People define success in many ways -- range of influence, souls saved, churches started, etc. However, to me the definition of a successful life is measured in how truly transformed we are to Christ's likeness.
When persecuted, do we pray? When attacked, do we turn the other cheek? When threatened by the impossible, do we trust God? When crucified, do we forgive? ~ Francis Frangipane
To generate a spiritual rebirth in America and shepherd the lost to Christ, the churches should have a welcome mat out twenty-four hours a day with ministers working in three shifts. Churches, at the least, should keep bar hours. Where can the lonely, frightened, and troubled go when the gin mills and the nightclubs finally close? With an all-night open-door church operation thousands upon thousands could be converted.-Arthur Blessitt
"I was ready to go down to the wire against the opposition. All they had was money, guns, influence, intimidation and jails. I would have a New Testament in my hand, a cross at my back, and Christ at my side. I couldn't lose." -Arthur Blessitt- Man who has carried a wooden cross across every nation on earth and is listed in the Guiness Book of World Records for the longest walk. (Over 34,000 miles to date).
"When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." -Franklin D. Roosevelt
After getting born-again- "I don't remember the ride home, or if Dad, Mom, or Virginia said a word. I do remember that truck was as a golden chariot pulled by a band of angels. Sin washed away, paradise gained, I went to sleep knowing that now Jesus was my best friend and that He always would be. And He always has been."-Arthur Blessitt
You want to raise the Dead? Get over you. You're the biggest obstacle. David Hogan
He calmed down a bit after that and in honest puzzlement he asked, "But why would a white man shake hands with an African American?"
He was the only one who had heard my sermon, the only Anacondan who responded to my ad. And even he did not step forward. His name was Roland Smathers and I did convert him a few days later. "Only reason I didn't make the decision that first day was that sermon of yours scared me to death," he told me. "Never heard a preacher carry on so." My first service had bred my first conversion. That's how you start with one, then two, then more, and yet more. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.-Arthur Blessitt
Meantime, I was still the only official member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Anaconda.. Roland Smathers, my lone parishioner, hadn't been baptized. So the Lord and I had a business meeting and together we voted to have a week of revival. -Arthur Blessitt
"I walked into the room and whispered in his ear, 'Granddad, it's Arthur. I'm here.' There was life and courage in him still. He looked at me and smiled. "My preacher," he said. Then he sat up in bed and put his arms around my neck. We talked for a few moments, and his last words to me were, 'Remember, my prayers are with you.' He died a few hours later. Members of the family told me that after I left he said the Lord's Prayer—twice. Then he sang the hymn that has warmed Christian hearts for two hundred years. The first thing I'm going to do when I meet Granddad in Heaven is sing that hymn with him. The harmony might be off- key, but I don't think anybody will mind.
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
Granddad's voice had broken as he struggled through the last verse:
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail ,
He made it to the end. Seconds later he went to spend his first ten thousand years with the Lord." -Arthur Blessitt
"If you put enough fire on it, it's goin' to change." -David Hogan
"Just because you're doing something, doesn't mean you are accomplishing anything." -(Justin Hawley)
